JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said the circulation of money due to economic growth in villages after the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program reached IDR 6 billion within 1 year.
In remarks when launching the Planting Indonesia Movement (Gerina) program in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Prabowo said the circulation of money in villages before the implementation of MBG was only around an average of IDR 1 billion per year.
"With the Nutritious Eating program, the money circulating in each village was increased (to) IDR 6 billion one year. At least (IDR) 5 (billion), 6 (billion) there were 7 (billion), some 8 billion. What was previously only (IDR) 1 billion circulated in the village to become (IDR) 6 billion one village," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 23.
The President explained that the rapid increase in the circulation of money in the village was because the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as the executor of MBG absorbed and purchased regional agricultural commodities as raw materials for the MBG menu.
Every Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in each village that is the kitchen of MBG will certainly absorb various vegetable and protein commodities that are processed into a menu in MBG. In the end, the economy in the village can grow significantly.
"Because every day to feed children, the National Nutrition Agency needs to buy eggs, buy chickens, buy fish, buy vegetables, buy tomatoes, buy carrots, buy cucumber. This is the village economy, the sub-district economy, live," said Prabowo.
On several occasions, the President said that the government is targeting the number of beneficiaries of Free Nutrition Food (MBG) in the first year of launch to target 82.9 million children and pregnant women by the end of 2025.
According to the President, there is no free feeding program in the world that makes pregnant women also benefit from the program.
"The MBG program starts from pregnant women, maybe the only country in the world. Where there is a program for pregnant women, every day they eat they are delivered to their homes. Let's try to show them where there is a country now," Prabowo asked the audience.
The Head of State explained that the implementation of MBG for pregnant women was carried out by delivering the food directly to the beneficiary's house.
In fact, Prabowo said that he often received letters from world leaders regarding the successful implementation of the MBG which was launched since January 2025.
