JAKARTA North Kalimantan Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) Ingkong Ala, accompanied by the Head of the Kaltara Agriculture and Food Security Service (DPKP) Heri Rudiyono visited the Ministry of Agriculture on Monday, April 21.

The Deputy Governor and his entourage were greeted directly by the Head of the Inneke Agricultural Training Center, Kusumawaty.

Deputy Governor Ingkong said this visit was a synergy between the central and regional governments in realizing food self-sufficiency in 2025.

"The province of Kaltara has a strong commitment to achieving food self-sufficiency, various efforts are being made, such as optimizing land (oplah), strengthening the Food Brigade, and intensive assistance to farmers," he said.

"North Kalimantan is one of the focuses of increasing rice production through expanding planting areas and increasing productivity," he continued.

According to the Deputy Governor, this year's agricultural land area in Kaltara has increased by 3 times compared to 2024.

"The assistance of rice seeds and vegetable seeds has also increased, this is also a support for the program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, namely Free Nutrition Food (MBG)," said the Deputy Governor.

But the Deputy Governor also acknowledged that there are still big challenges for the 34th province, such as geographical conditions and infrastructure that are still incomplete and adequate.

This has an impact on mechanization efforts through the use of modern agricultural tools and digitizing the use of information technology.

"The Kaltara Provincial Government as the city district coach, will continue to ask the Agriculture Service of each district/city to immediately move to support the target of food self-sufficiency in the province of Kaltara, which we love," he said.

The Deputy Governor hopes that with strong support from the central government and the commitment of the local government, the Provincial Government of Kaltara is ready to carry out its important role in efforts to realize sustainable food self-sufficiency and support national food security.
