WPI Highlights The Importance Of Increasing Literacy For Women From The Family Scope

JAKARTA - Indonesian Women's Writers (WPI) highlight the importance of increasing the literacy of Indonesian women. They see this as an important factor in improving the quality of human resources, because women are the first teachers for their families.

Quoting ANTARA on Sunday, April 20 in Jakarta, WPI General Chair Free Hearty said attention to women is strategic, and efforts to increase women's literacy can have a good domino effect.

In order to achieve this, his party seeks to motivate and facilitate women to dare to speak up and work.

"Not only through literary works such as short stories, novels, and poetry, but also through a history," said Hearty in connection with the inauguration of the new WPI board for the period 2025-2030 and WPI's 42nd birthday.

Through daily books or letters, said Free, a person can devote his thoughts and heart content. With the courage to speak about growing from that method, he said, women can have a positive domino effect in their smallest environment.

"The important thing is that he can and dares to speak," he said.

He has high hopes for young women to love reading and writing activities. Therefore, he said, this must start from the family environment. He hopes that the initiatives by WPI can strengthen this interest in reading and writing are useful for fostering creativity, sharpening reason, and smoothing character.

In reality, many women are still lazy or reluctant to read, especially to write. So, how to reduce this positive habit to their children if there is no real example in front of their eyes?, "he said.

He also asked for support from all parties to carry out their programs to increase women's literacy.

"We hope for real support, especially in terms of program financing," he said.
