JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to a demonstration by a number of residents demanding an evaluation of the Bank DKI problem in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall. According to Pramono, the demonstration was natural.

"When it comes to demonstrations, this is a democratic country. The demonstration is natural," said Pramono when met at the Ministry of Finance Complex, Central Jakarta, Thursday, April 17.

The participants claimed to be customers of Bank DKI who were affected by service disruptions. They are restless because they cannot make interbank transfers in the JakOne Mobile application. The demonstrators demanded Pramono evaluate the performance of the DKI Bank directors on a large scale.

Responding to this, Pramono admitted that he had ordered the ranks of Bank DKI to accelerate improvements to banking services that were still problematic.

"Indeed, there are still things that need to be resolved, because we don't want a leak to be audited at Bank DKI. With this, why was it done," said Pramono.

Previously, in a leadership meeting with the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government some time ago, it was emphasized that Bank DKI needed serious attention and handling. He underlined that in every period, various challenges must arise.

"We have to think about changing the name (Bank) of DKI. Is Bank DKI a 'Jakarta Bank', or 'Global Bank', so we do what is called rebranding," said Pramono.

"Later we will really build it into the building of the Jakarta bank. If that's what we do, we can definitely fly," he added.

Therefore, there needs to be room that is wide open to make overall improvements, one of which is rebranding. Pramono also emphasized that Bank DKI must be free from the "trust" game from irresponsible parties.

"There are spaces that are easy for people to play with, from the inside, especially. So they must be fully managed professionally. No longer can be entrusted from anyone to the directors of Bank DKI," Pramono explained.

Pramono has also taken firm steps regarding the problem of disrupting Bank DKI banking transaction services. Pramono fired Bank DKI Director of Technology and Operations Amirul Wicaksono from his position. In addition, Pramono also ordered Bank DKI to report this matter to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
