Philippines Sends Supply To Warships In South China Sea Dispute

China's coast guard said it allowed Philippine civilian ships to deliver supplies to a warship "illegally grounded" in the disputed Second Thomas Shoal in the South China Sea.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, April 9, the coast guard inspected and monitored the Philippine ship during its supply mission. China urges the Philippines to cooperate with China to manage the maritime situation.

China and the Philippines have been attacking each other for months regarding maneuvers at Second Thomas Shoal in Manila's 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea.

China claims almost all of the South China Sea, despite overlapping claims from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.

The 2016 international arbitration court ruling states Beijing's claim, which is based on its historical map, has no international legal basis, a decision China does not recognize.
