The Dolphins Ridden By Lucinta Luna In Sanur Bali Evacuated

DENPASAR - As many as 7 bottlenose dolphins or Tursiops Aduncus at Mertasari Beach, Sanur, Bali, were evacuated.

The dolphins entrusted by the government to PT Piayu Samudera Bali went viral because of the action of Lucinta Luna and her friends riding dolphins.

The dolphins were evacuated by officers of the Directorate General of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems (KSDAE) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry accompanied by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters and the Bali Police Directorate General of Criminal Investigation.

"Conducted the evacuation of 7 bottlenose dolphins which were entrusted by the government to PT. Piayu Samudera Bali", said Head of KSDAE R Agus Budi Santosa, Tuesday, April 27.

Evacuation of dolphins as a follow-up to the letter of the Director-General of KSDAE Number: S.577/MENLHK-KSDAE/KKH/KSA.2/4/2021 dated April 16, 2021, concerning Warning Letter I to PT. Piayu Samudera Bali. Also considered is the input from the public received through social media after the viral action of Lucinta Luna on a dolphin.

"For information, the protection status of bottlenose dolphins according to the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number: P.106/Menlhk/Setjen/Kum.1/12/2018 is protected species and the conservation status according to the IUCN red list is categorized as unknown or near threatened", added Budi Santosa.

BKSDA emphasized the Bottlenose dolphin demonstration activity of PT. Piayu Samudera Bali which was held at Mertasari Beach has been closed. Officers put up a banner closing the dolphin show.

"The bottlenose dolphins will then be evacuated and tended to by a conservation agency that has permits, adequate facilities, and infrastructure, is experienced in handling dolphins and their management pays attention to animal welfare", said Santosa.

Through an Instagram account, Davina Veronica highlighted Lucinta Luna holding a dolphin fin. "This is really really stupid, uneducated, cruel, and heartless. It's really sad to see this", wrote the actress who is also an animal observer.
