It Turned Out That Prabowo's Nephew Subianto Was Also Killed At KRI Nanggala-402

JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto uploaded a photo of one of the crew of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine who died in the waters north of Bali via his Instagram account. It turned out that of the 53 crew of the German-made submarine there was a nephew named Lt. Laut (T) Rhesa Tri Sigar.

"One of the best sons of the nation, Lt. Laut (T) Rhesa Tri Sigar, my brother who died with KRI Nanggala 402 made a sacrifice for the sake of the Red and White," he said as quoted from the Instagram account @prabowo, Monday, April 26.

Prabowo explained that Rhesa was the son of his cousin, Lieutenant Colonel Godfried Sigar, who was formerly the Head of the Operations Section of Korem 164 or Wira Dharma Dili. Prabowo said Rhesa's father was also killed in the East Timor operation on 4 June.

Prabowo has also visited Rhesa's mother, Indah Wahyu Arini Retno Utami and her brother, Captain Inf Julius Sigar at his residence in Surabaya.

"We as a family will always remember your services for our beloved Indonesia, you will always live in our spirit. Respect and our prayers always accompany it," he said.

As previously reported, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto on the fifth day of the search or on Sunday, April 25, announced that 53 soldiers on board the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine were declared dead in their duties.

The announcement was made after the search team found a number of authentic evidence that showed the KRI Nanggala-402 sank at a depth of 838 meters and the hull of the ship was split into three parts.

"Based on the authentic evidence, it can be stated that the KRI Nanggala-402 has drowned and all of its crew have died. Therefore, with deep sadness as the TNI commander, I declare that 53 personnel on board KRI Nanggala-402 have died," he said. TNI commander during a press conference at Base Ops Lanud I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Bali.

"Hiu Kencana's best soldiers have died while carrying out their duties in the waters north of Bali. On behalf of all soldiers and TNI extended families as TNI commander, I would like to convey my deepest condolences to all the families of the fallen soldiers. May God the Greatest give sincerity, patience and fortitude, "added Hadi.

Of the 53 TNI soldiers, including 49 crew members (ABK), one unit commander, and three weapons personnel.
