Trial Of Rizieq Shihab And 5 Former FPI Officials Held Today, East Jakarta District Court Presents 9 Witnesses

JAKARTA - The East Jakarta District Court (PN) has again held a follow-up trial for the alleged crowd and violation of the health protocol (prokes) with the defendant Rizieq Shihab and five former officials of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

In a trial with an agenda for witness examination, at least 9 people were presented by the public prosecutor (JPU).

"There were 9 witnesses presented by the prosecutor," Rizieq Shihab's lawyer, Aziz Yanuar, told reporters, Monday, April 26.

The witnesses, said Aziz, were for three complex cases. The first was for the crowd of Petamburan and Megamendung with the defendant Rizieq Shihab. Then, the case of the Megamendung crowd with the case of five former high-ranking FPI officials.

"For the Megamendung case, if I'm not mistaken, there are 5 witnesses," said Aziz.

Meanwhile, the rest will testify in the Petamburan crowd case. However, Aziz did not know in detail who was presented as a witness by the prosecutor.

"I haven't got any information yet, I'll let you know later," he said.

Meanwhile, in the alleged violation of the health protocol in Petamburan, Rizieq Shihab was charged with incitement to the appearance of a crowd at his daughter's wedding as well as commemorating the Prophet's birthday in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. This crowd is taking place in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

So that in this case, Rizieq was charged with violating Article 160 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code and or Article 82 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 59 paragraph 3 letters c and d Law Number 16 Year 2017 concerning Community Organization in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 10 letter b of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 35 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, in the case of the Megamendung crowd, Rizieq was charged with violating the Health Quarantine Law and was denied the prevention of the COVID-19 outbreak due to a crowd of sympathizers in Megamendung, Bogor Regency on November 13.

He was also charged with violating Article 216 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code because he deliberately did not follow the rules of the authorities regarding the implementation of the Law.
