JAKARTA - The Indonesian Embassy in Bucharet and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched the official logo of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025 on Monday this week, marking the close partnership between the two countries since 1950.
Bilateral relations between the two countries have existed since Romania recognized Indonesia's sovereignty in 1950 and President Soekarno's visit to Bucharest, Romania. Since then, the two countries have continued to build close partnerships, strengthen cooperation, and strengthen synergy for mutual welfare.
Indonesian Ambassador to Romania Meidyatama Suryodiningrat emphasized that bilateral relations between the two countries have developed more than just a political aspect and are based on mutual trust.
"75 years ago, a young, newly independent country needed support, and Romania was present as a true friend when acknowledging the de facto of the sovereignty of this young republic," said Ambassador Meidyatama in his remarks at the event 'The Unveiling of the 75th Anniversary Logo of Indonesia-Romania Diplomatic Relations & Indonesia-Romania Tourism Forum' in Bucharest, as reported by the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest, Friday, March 14.
In line with Ambassador Meidyatama, Director of Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Romanian Foreign Ministry Diana Tase also recalled the relations between the two countries that had existed since 1950.
"For 75 years, Indonesia has been a major partner for Romania in Asia. Together, we have built a strong relationship based on trust, mutual respect, and prosperity between the two countries," said Tase's Director.
The 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations using the flag-colored band design of the two countries, combines elements of Garuda Pancasila Indonesia and the National Coat of Arms Romania. Both of these symbolize connection and sustainability, as well as reflect the unity and sustainability of Indonesia-Rumania relations.
The launch of this logo is the beginning of a series of commemorations of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Rumania which will last throughout 2025.
In addition to launching the 75-year logo, the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest is also trying to expand cooperation in the tourism sector, by organizing the Indonesia-Romania Tourism Forum. Ambassador Meidyatama said that the community-to-people contact between the two countries is growing.
"In the last two years, the number of Indonesian citizens in Romania has more than doubled, while more than 52,000 Romanians have visited Indonesia. This reflects the stronger connectivity of our society and this is also the basis for this tourism forum," explained Ambassador Meidyatama.
Tase's director also hopes that the two countries can continue to be in close contact and expand cooperation.
