Head of the DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Disdukcapil) Budi Awaluddin emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government will not carry out judicial operations for newcomers after this year's Eid.

Population justice operations were implemented during the era of former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). Budi emphasized that Jakarta remains friendly and open to migrants entering Jakarta.

"Jakarta remains fair, remains attractive, and gives happiness to everyone. However, it must remain measurable, so that the realization of becoming a global city can be achieved. Therefore, this year we have not carried out judicial operations like in previous years," Budi said in his statement, Friday, March 14.

Budi explained that population growth in Jakarta every month comes from the average birth of 8,796 people.

Meanwhile, population growth in one momentum, such as post-Lebaran, in the period 2021-2024, the average number of migrants in Jakarta is 22,412 people. The data shows a spike in the number of people in Jakarta in one particular momentum.

Therefore, in controlling the population figure in Jakarta ahead of the entry of newcomers, Budi said that the DKI Provincial Government is continuing the population administration structuring program.

In the program, the DKI Provincial Government disabled the population identification number (NIK) for residents with Jakarta ID cards who had lived outside the area.

"This program was successfully carried out at the previous time. This is evidenced by a decrease in the population transfer rate or migration in 2024 of around 37.47 percent from the previous year," said Budi.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung highlighted the phenomenon of immigrants entering Jakarta after the Lebaran homecoming season. Pramono emphasized that in his leadership, Jakarta is not closed to migrants.

Pramono assessed that every Eid Al-Fitr was over, many residents outside the area came to Jakarta to settle down to find livelihoods.

"Because after all, Jakarta is still an attraction for anyone who is looking for jobs," said Pramono.

However, the former Cabinet Secretary did not deny that the rise of entrants entering Jakarta brought its own problems for population management.

Pramono admitted that he had not yet decided what program he would run to deal with the phenomenon of newcomers after Eid al-Fitr 1446 H. What is clear, Jakarta is still open to immigrants.

"Jakarta under my leadership must be open, more friendly, but also with firmness. So we haven't formulated it yet because tomorrow we will close it for it, tomorrow Tuesday," he explained.
