JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday praised a meeting between the United States and Ukraine on Tuesday aimed at ending Russia's invasion, saying the proposed ceasefire could be used to formulate a broader peace agreement.

The United States said on Tuesday it would resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, after Washington and Kyiv officials agreed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on a 30-day ceasefire with Russia.

"I am very serious (about the ceasefire) and for me it is important to end the war," President Zelensky told a briefing in Kyiv, in which he described the resumption of US aid and intelligence as very positive.

"We are ready for a 30-day ceasefire as proposed by the Americans," he said.

President Zelensky added that the meeting in Jeddah had helped "relieve" tensions between the US and Ukraine following a dispute at the White House between him and President Donald Trump last month.

Separately, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said after negotiations in Jeddah, Uncle Sam's country would now submit the proposal to Russia, and the decision was in Moscow's hands.

Separately, the Kremlin said on Wednesday it was awaiting details from Washington regarding a 30-day ceasefire proposal.

Peskov said contact with America was planned in the coming days, "where we look forward to receiving complete information."
