JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) strongly denies that PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) has caused state losses of up to Rp. 5.9 quadrillion. The head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, Harli Siregar, confirmed that the claims circulating on social media since March 7, 2025 have no basis and are hoaxes.

"There was no such loss. In the ongoing process, there was no mention of the amount of loss as claimed," said Harli in his statement, Tuesday, March 11.

Harli explained that the AGO is currently handling two cases related to Antam, namely the case of buying and selling gold with Budi Said and gold governance. However, there were no indications of state losses in the fantastic amount as alleged.

"There are two cases of Antam, namely the Budi Said case and the gold cap. In these two cases, we did not find a loss of up to IDR 5.9 quadrillion," he said.

Unfounded accusations against Antam are not the only time this has appeared on social media. Previously, since February 26, 2025, an upload was circulated accusing the existence of 109 tons of fake gold circulating in the community. However, the AGO again confirmed that the claim was also not true.

"The gold is genuine. From the cases we have handled so far, there is no indication that the gold is fake," continued Harli.

Antam Standard

Responding to the repeated spread of false information attacking the company, Antam did not remain silent. Antam Syarif Corporate Secretary Faisal Alkadrie emphasized that all Antam's gold products had met international standards. Antam's processing and purification plant has also received official certification from the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA).

"We ensure that all of Antam's precious metal gold products are processed at the only gold processing and refining plant in Indonesia that has been certified by LBMA. Thus, all gold products labeled with precious metal Antam circulating in the community are genuine and guaranteed purity levels," said Syarif in a written statement.

Syarif also emphasized that Antam was serious in dealing with the spread of this hoax. The state-owned company is currently reviewing legal steps against parties who have spread misleading information and have the potential to damage the company's reputation.

"We will not remain silent. Currently, we are considering legal steps against parties who spread false information that can harm the company and create unrest in the community," he said.

In addition, Antam appealed to the public to be wiser in receiving information on social media and always verify before believing or spreading news.

"As an open company, we are supervised by various parties and always committed to implementing good corporate governance. We urge the public not to panic and check facts before believing information," concluded Syarif.

With the firm clarification from the AGO and legal steps being considered by Antam, the spreaders of hoaxes related to this state-owned mining company appear to have to prepare for legal consequences
