Dozens Of Class IIB Kutacane Aceh Prison Prisoners Escape Ahead Of Iftar

BANDA ACEH - Dozens of inmates or convicts of Class IIB Kutacane Penitentiarys, Southeast Aceh Regency, Aceh were reported to have fled.

Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections for Aceh Province, Yan Rusmanto, confirmed the escape of the inmates.

But he did not know for sure how many inmates in the prison had escaped.

"I cannot confirm how many people fled. Currently, officers at the prison are having an apple counting the inmates. Later, I will inform the details, as well as what is the cause," Yan said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 10.

Currently, Yan Rusmanto said he was on his way to Kutacane, Southeast Aceh Regency, by land. The trip to the area is estimated to take 16 hours.

Meanwhile, according to the information gathered, the escape of the inmate was on Monday (10/3) before breaking the fast. Some of them fled through the main door and some from the roof of the prison.

The resident who was active outside the prison panicked when he saw many inmates jumping from the main gate of the prison.

Several residents were also seen recording the video of the inmates' escape by telephone.
