Difficult To Restore US-Russia Relations, Kremlin Believes There Is Political Will Between The Two Countries

JAKARTA - Russia sees restoring relations with the United States as a long and difficult task. But Russia believes there is political will on both sides to move forward.

US President Donald Trump's quick move to pursue a restoration of relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin has made Ukraine and its allies in Europe nervous.

"We are in the early stages of the road to restore our bilateral relations. The road forward is quite long and difficult, but at least the two presidents have expressed political will in this direction," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

In addition, the Kremlin also said the old West's accusations of Russia sabotaged the US and Europe were "empty", baseless and unproven.

The Kremlin made the statement when asked to comment on the US report suspending certain measures against the alleged Russian sabotage campaign.

"There is no confirmation of the existence of a sabotage campaign that has been established even in the special trial process that has been attempted in the United States and in the capital cities of European countries," Peskov said.

Peskov said the administration of US President Donald Trump was only trying to get rid of anything ineffective, corrupt, and unreasonable.

Previously, the United States and NATO allies had repeatedly accused Russia of carrying out sabotage campaigns in the West, including against energy infrastructure.
