The Langsa Police Narcotics Investigation Unit revealed the circulation of methamphetamine-type drugs weighing up to 12.5 kilograms supplied from Malaysia and arrested three suspected perpetrators of the prohibited goods.

Langsa Police Chief AKBP Andy Rahmansyah said the three suspected drug dealers, two of whom were men with the initials T (36) and MRA (28) and a woman with the initials TBT (45).

"They were arrested in an operation that took place from February 25 to March 3, 2025. Drug disclosure was based on public reports," said Andy Rahmansyah as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 10.

Previously, the public reported that there were large number of narcotics transactions in Langsa City. Based on this information, the Bireuen Police Narcotics Investigation Unit Opsnal team investigated it.

From the results of the investigation, the team arrested T and MRA in the Gampong Alue Dua area, Langsa Baro District, Langsa City. When searched, the team found a package of methamphetamine weighing 564 grams and a bag containing two cell phones.

Based on T's confession, they got the illicit goods from a man with the initials A in East Aceh Regency. The information was further developed until the team finally found 12 large packages of methamphetamine with a total weight of 12 kilograms.

The methamphetamine was hidden in sacks in the forest, Gampong Tanoh Anoe, Idi Rayeuk District, East Aceh Regency.

"The team searched the location and found methamphetamine wrapped in red plastic that reads King 88, which is covered in bushes. However, other perpetrators suspected of being part of this network managed to escape," said the Police Chief.

In developing the case, the police are also investigating the alleged flow of funds from narcotics. The police arrested a woman with the initials TBT (45) who is T's wife on suspicion of storing and using money from narcotics crimes.

From the results of the examination, TBT admitted to using some money from narcotics for daily needs, buying gold, and transferring funds to other parties who are still under investigation.

The network of perpetrators operating across regions with methamphetamine is thought to have originated from Malaysia. The prohibited goods entered Aceh by sea.

The three perpetrators were charged with Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. T and MRA face the maximum sentence of death or life imprisonment.

Meanwhile, TBT was charged with articles related to conspiracy to commit narcotics crimes. The threat of punishment is up to 20 years in prison.
