JAKARTA - Grobogan Regency, Central Java, was again hit by floods due to the breakdown of the Tuntang River embankment in Baturagung Village, Grobogan Regency, resulting in a number of houses being affected.

"We noted that there were three affected villages, starting from Baturagung Village, Tambakan, and Ringinkidul," said Head of Prevention and Preparedness of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Grobogan Masrikan Regency, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, March 9.

He revealed that the overflow of the Tuntang River also inundated residential areas, but temporary data fled from Baturagung Village.

Before the embankment broke on Sunday, March 9, at 06.00 WIB, residents of Baturagung Village first fled, because previously it also broke, so when they found out that the river water reached the edge of the residents' embankments, they fled.

However, his party does not yet know the exact number because many have fled independently. However, refugees are provided with locations at the Baturagung Village Hall and a local mosque that is safe from flooding.

The collapse of the Tuntang River embankment has been recorded four times during 2025. While the fourth has no impact on traffic flow on Grobogan-Semarang Street.

BPBD Grobogan also dispatched three rescue teams to help evacuate residents who might want to evacuate because the water from the river was still heavy, although the discharge from the Dark Dam began to fall.

"It's just that the decrease in the water discharge from the dam is estimated to take eight hours, so that it will also recede at the location," he said.

Another effort is to provide plastic sacks to raise embankments where the water starts to run off or strengthen the embankment so that it does not break.

"We are also dropping logistical assistance to meet the needs of flood-affected residents," he said.
