BANYUWANGI - The Free Nutrition Food Program in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, is still given to students and specifically during Ramadan, the MBG menu is replaced with dry food so that they can be brought home for breaking the fast.

"The MBG program is running smoothly and the reach continues to increase, as long as the fasting month of this program is still rolling, of course, with adjustments," said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani in Banyuwangi, East Java, Saturday.

In Banyuwangi, there are already three Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units or SPPGs spread across three sub-districts which reach 39 schools with 5,642 recipients of the Free Nutrition Eating program.

The Regent of Ipuk said that during Ramadan, the free nutritious meal menu obtained by students is not like ready-to-eat food consumed at school usually, but is replaced with dry food to break the fast that can be brought home, such as dates, milk, eggs, snacks and fruit.

The MBG program in Banyuwangi officially started on February 3, 2025, and currently the implementation of MBG has reached 39 schools in Banyuwangi, starting from kindergarten, elementary, public and private junior high schools.

"Currently in Banyuwangi, there are already three SPPG public kitchens (the nutritional fulfillment service unit) in the Rogojampi, Sempu and Banyuwangi sub-districts," said Regent Ipuk.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Banyuwangi Regency Education Office, Suratno, conveyed that the distribution of fasting-month snacks to schools continues every day. During the fasting month, the distribution of food is still carried out by the SPPG to schools every day.
