The Reason Why Ma'ruf Wants Students To Be Allowed To Go Home: If Not, When Can He Go Home?

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Masduki Baidlowi, explained the reason why students should get exemption from going home on the Idul Fitri holiday 2021. In fact, at the same time, the government has made a ban on people traveling or going home to their hometowns.

Masduki said that this exception was requested by Ma'ruf because students studying at the pesantren only get a day off to return home once a year or during the Eid Al-Fitr celebration moments.

"Yes, because of the consideration that the santri should go home and stay at the pesantren for a long time. ... If you are not allowed to go home, the santri will return home once," said Masduki when contacted by VOI, Friday, April 23.

In addition, the appeal to grant this exemption was issued because the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa had given permission so that the students could return to their home areas.

"Therefore, it is hoped, yes, other governors, especially for students who have not returned home for a long time, do not make it difficult for them," he said.

Even though he was allowed to go home, Masduki reminded the students to maintain health protocols. Because, currently the COVID-19 pandemic is still happening.

"Yes (the students, red) so they are careful to follow the health protocol as usual. Don't violate it," he said.

As previously reported, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin hoped that the students would get an exemption from being able to go home on the Lebaran 2021 holiday. In fact, the government previously decided to prohibit human movement to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 cases.

Tightening the movement of domestic travelers (PPDN) was enforced through Task Force Circular Letter Number 13 of 2021 in the period 6-17 May, with an addendum to eliminating homecoming on 22 April-5 May and 18 May-24 May.
