Responding To PSU During Ramadan Review, PKS: Just Following The Constitutional Court's Decision, It's Also Not Ideal

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the DPR from the PKS faction, Mardani Ali Sera, responded to the proposal for the re-voting (PSU) for the regional election during Ramadan to be reviewed. According to Mardani, it is better for the implementation of the PSU to continue to follow the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).

"Just follow the Constitutional Court's decision. Postponed after Eid there must also be an ideal condition. Because the PSU is all easier to do," said Mardani, Tuesday, March 3.

Mardani assessed that there were advantages and shortcomings in implementing the PSU during Ramadan. However, he emphasized that the Constitutional Court's decision was final and binding.

So according to him, the implementation of the PSU with the time stipulated by the Constitutional Court must be carried out legally.

"The busy environment must have an effect, especially the PSU in the city. But the postponement has resulted in the longer the local people get definitive leaders. All have advantages and disadvantages," he said.

It is known, as many as 24 regions will hold PSU. In detail, 15 PSUs were carried out at all polling stations and 9 PSUs were carried out at a number of polling stations.

As for the time of implementation, it varies. Nearby, is the PSU with a deadline or maximum limit on March 26, 2025.

PSU on that date was in all areas in Magetan Regency, PSU in a number of polling stations in Barito Regency, Siak Riau Regency, and recapitulation in Puncak Jaya Regency.

Previously, a member of Commission II of the DPR RI from the PKB faction, Mohammad Toha, requested that the re-voting (PSU) in 24 regions during Ramadan or before Eid al-Fitr must be reviewed. Because according to him, the holy month is a time to focus on carrying out worship.

"The fasting month is a good month, to increase piety, to behave better, including to choose a good and precise candidate for leader, but if the time interferes with each other's concentration, then it should be postponed," said Toha, Monday, March 3.
