Bandung Regency Government Immediately Repair Jebol Embankment In Cikapundung River Kolot

The Bandung (Pemkab) Government of Bandung, West Java, has confirmed that it will immediately repair the retaining embankment or kirmir on the banks of the Cikapundung Kolot River, Dayeuhkolot District, which was broken due to heavy rains in the area.

Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna emphasized that the repair of this embankment will soon be carried out by involving the Citarum River Basin Center (BBWS).

"For the repair of the embankment and construction, it is carried out by BBWS Citarum. For bridges that of course need to be repaired, maybe later we will use the Bandung Regency APBD," said Dadang in Bandung Regency, Antara, Monday, March 3.

Dadang highlighted that the flood problem was not only caused by high rainfall, but also due to waste deposits from the Bandung City area. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between regions in dealing with flood problems, garbage, congestion, and spatial planning.

"Of course, the Governor can make an inter-regional coordinator that must be communicated. We have spoken with the Mayor of Bandung, which of course will be discussed in detail, but not only in discourse. I don't want to just talk," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of BBWS Citarum Mochammad Dian Alma'ruf explained that the floods in Bojongsoang and Dayeuhkolot sub-districts occurred because the capacity of the Cikapundung Kolot River was unable to accommodate high water discharge.

"Debit air saat banjir mencapai 414 kubik, sementara kapasitas sungai hanya 267 kubik. Selain itu aliran air dari Sungai Cikapundung Kota mengalami backwater (aliran balik), sehingga tekanan air meningkat dan menyebabkan bangunan embankment melih," kata dia.

Dian said the Cikapundung Kolot River embankment was originally designed for two kilometers, but budget constraints in 2020 made the construction unfinished.

Currently, his party is handling emergency repairs by installing geobags as a strengthening of the temporary embankment.

"This is our plan to start being proposed again. Hopefully next year will not be like this year. So returning to the budget posture at the Ministry of Public Works (PU) is looser. If this year there is budget efficiency, it will have an impact on the management of infrastructure activities," he said.
