Jambi-Padang Ambles Sumatra Cross Road, Vehicles Diverted To Alternative Routes

JAKARTA - The Sumatra Cross Road, more precisely in Siri Sekapur Hamlet, Jujuhan, Bungo, collapsed on Sunday, March 2. The condition of the road that was completely paralyzed made the vehicle diverted to the alternative route of Sangir Solok Selatan.

Head of BPBD Kesbangpol Zainadi, in Jambi, Sunday, said that currently his party had coordinated with the relevant agencies for emergency handling of the broken road conditions.

"Currently we have installed a barrier line and directed the vehicle to an alternative route," said Zainadi quoting ANTARA, March 2.

His party has also contacted the local PUPR Office for further handling. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes through the South Solok Sangir Line.

Jalan Lintas Sumatra (Jalinsum), Jujuhan, Bungo, was broken due to heavy rains that flushed the area since the night before.

As a result, the flood cut off the road, causing the road to collapse.

This condition caused the paralysis of the main road access connecting Bungo to West Sumatra.

One resident of Ahmad said the incident began when heavy water immediately cut the road until it was split. Currently, vehicles cannot cross the road.

The flood that came from the surrounding river overflowed and hit the road, causing landslides and cutting off main road access.

Until now, joint BPBD officers, TNI, Polri, and residents are still trying to carry out emergency handling at the location.

The public is advised to remain alert to potential aftershocks, considering that rainfall is still high in the local area.
