JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Migas) through the Center for Oil and Gas Testing / LEMIGAS ensures that all samples of fuel oil (BBM) type gasoline tested meet the specifications set by the Government.
This result was obtained from a series of tests carried out at the LEMIGAS laboratory after sampling at the Pertamina Plumpang Fuel Terminal (TBBM) as well as various Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and South Tangerang areas, including samples taken in conjunction with the visit of Commission XII DPR RI at gas stations in the Cibubur area, Depok.
"The results of the LEMIGAS laboratory test show that all fuel samples examined are within the required quality limit range (on spec)," said Head of the Center for Oil and Gas Testing/LEMIGAS Mustafid Gunawan in his statement, quoted on Sunday, March 2.
In particular, Mustafid revealed, in the context of testing quality supervision of gasoline fuels, including sampling referring to the ASTM D4057 method or Standard Practice for Manual Sampling of Petroleum and Petroleum Products, standard testing, fuel specifications, and monitoring to ensure the quality of fuel meets the specifications set by the Government.
"Based on the methodology of testing above, main test parameters such as the Oktana Number (Research Octane Number or RON) which show the quality of gasoline fuel, type mass, sulfur content, vapor pressure, and distillation are obtained according to the established standards," he said.
Mustafid conveyed that the RON values measured on each sample showed stable results and did not deviate from applicable specifications.
He explained that RON is one of the parameters that shows the quality of the quality of anti-falling fuel or the ability of fuel to withstand knockout during the combustion process on the engine.
According to him, the higher the RON, the greater the fuel capacity to be resistant or avoid knockout on machines and RON is tested using the CFR F-1 engine using the ASTM D2699 method.
Mustafid conveyed that in order to maintain the consistency of the quality of fuel consumed by the community, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas ensures that they continue to supervise the quality of fuel regularly.
"We understand the importance of transparency in the supervision of fuel. We convey the results of this test so that the people are sure that the fuel they use is in accordance with the standards set by the Government," said Mustafid.
On the same occasion, Plt. Director of Business Development Hilir Migas Mirza Mahendra said that the quality supervision of fuel is part of the mandate of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 48 of 2005, which stipulates that the Directorate General of Oil and Gas is responsible for fostering and supervising standards and the quality of fuels marketed domestically.
"As a form of implementation of the regulation, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas periodically collects fuel samples to ensure that the quality is maintained according to applicable standards," he said.

Mirza also emphasized efforts to strengthen coordination with stakeholders, including Pertamina and other fuel providers in order to maintain the quality of fuel consistently.
According to him, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas is committed to carrying out comprehensive quality supervision to protect consumers and ensure that the fuel used by the community is safe and not detrimental.
Mirza said that through strict quality supervision and transparency of the results of the test, the Government hopes that public confidence in fuel circulating in the market will increase.
For information, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has taken fuel samples on Thursday, February 27, 2025. A total of 75 gasoline samples with various octane numbers (RON 90, RON 92, RON 95, and RON 98) were collected from 1 TBBM Pertamina Plumpang and 33 gas stations in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and South Tangerang.
Laboratory testing is carried out against test parameters that refer to the standards set by the Decree of the Director General of Oil and Gas.
For example, the RON 90 gasoline sample has a range of RON values between 90.3 to 90.7; RON 92 ranges from 92.0 to 92.6; RON 95 is in the range of 95.3 to 97.2; and RON 98 shows results between 98.4 to 98.6.
