The government of Garut Regency, West Java, has issued a circular stating that public compliance prohibits nightclubs from operating during Ramadan.
"If it violates the policy, it will be forcibly closed according to applicable regulations. Everything in the Garut area, nightclubs, karaoke and the like is prohibited from operating during the month of Ramadan," said Head of the Garut Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Usep Basuki Eko in Garut as reported by ANTARA.
He said the Garut Regency Government through the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and the Garut Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issued an announcement of public compliance in the Holy Month of Ramadan, including the prohibition of operating entertainment venues.
If it continues to operate, said Usep, it will be given a warning letter first, and if it is still operating, a forced closure will be carried out by sealing the place so that it does not operate again.
"It was forcibly closed accompanied by a warning letter, if it was repeated, sealing would be carried out according to the SOP," he said.
He conveyed that the announcement was not only prohibited from operating for entertainment venues, but other things to prevent disturbances in public security and order in the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The declaration, he said, was like a ban on setting firecrackers, then convoys of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, the use of noisy exhausts, and illegal races that could cause social conflict.
"It is prohibited to carry out all forms of community disease activity, thuggery, prostitution, sales of alcohol, gambling, and illicit trafficking, consumption of NAPZA (narcotics, psychotropic substances, and other addictive substances)," he said.
He mentioned another prohibition is not to carry out illegal raids that are not in accordance with the provisions. Likewise, the prohibition of opening during the day for restaurants, or other types of ready-to-eat food.
Food business actors, he said, the operational time limit for Ramadan is starting at 16.00 WIB, if they violate the regulation, they will be given a closure sanction and the goods will be transported to the Satpol PP Office.
