Biak Regency Government Limits Operational Sales Of Alcoholic Drinks

BIAK - The Government of Biak Numfor Regency, Papua has instructed temporary restrictions on operational activities for the sale of alcoholic beverages during Ramadan from March 1 to 25, 2025 to 21.00 WIT.

"The district government also limits the operating hours of nightclubs from 21.00 to 24.00 WIT," said Biak Numfor Regent Markus Oktavianus Mansnembra in instructions for the circulation of alcoholic beverages and nightclubs during Ramadan received in Biak, Saturday.

According to Markus, the Regent's instruction No. 510/270 regarding the circulation and sale of alcoholic beverages in Biak Numfor Regency was limited to operating hours.

The existence of these restrictions, he continued, is to create an atmosphere in Biak Numfor Regency which is safe, orderly and harmonious in the fasting month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in 2025.

He said, for supervision of the Regent's instructions, Satpol Pamong Praja, Industry and Trade Service, District Heads, Village Heads and local Village Heads would be carried out.

The Regent emphasized that distributors, retailers, shops, kiosks venues for night entertainment, cafes and massage parlors are places for selling alcoholic beverages to comply with this instruction.

For distributors, retailers, kiosks, shops, massage parlors, cafes and nightclubs who do not heed this instruction, he continued, firm action will be taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Until, Saturday (1/3) at the beginning of the month of Ramadan 1446 Hijri, shopping activities and shopping centers and markets continued to operate to serve the needs of the community at the beginning of the 2025 fasting month.
