JAKARTA - The Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency has fully handed over the continuation of the fate of the Sunter Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung.
The waste processing project into electrical energy, which was groundbreaking several years ago, has stalled until now.
Recently, the DKI Provincial Government has been more focused on developing the Refuse Dried Fuel (RDF) project which was built in Bantargebang and Rorotan.
"Indeed, the construction of waste other than RDF is currently still very open. Whether RDF or ITF, I am ready to wait for directions from the Governor," said Asep at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, February 27.
The Sunter ITF project was stopped due to funding constraints. The DKI Provincial Government is also worried that it will not be able to pay the tipping fee to investors when the waste processing facility operates.
Currently, the land that was originally projected for the Sunter ITF is leased by the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo. The land is often used for parking areas.
"Indeed, the land that wants to become an ITF sunter has been leased by Jakpro, and the use of its plan was first for the construction of the ITF. Now, when the ITF is stopped at this time, the management of the land is under Jakpro's authority," said Asep.
On that occasion, Asep said that it was possible for the Sunter ITF to be looked back into one of the efforts of the DKI Provincial Government in carrying out waste management.
"Development of waste management other than the current one, it is still very open because we still have around 3,500 tons of waste that must be managed immediately," explained Asep.
