JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that 246 families (KK) spread across three urban villages in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel) were affected by flooding due to heavy rains on Wednesday, February 19.

Head of BPBD Banyuasin Reza Agust Perdana said the three sub-districts affected by the flood were Tanah Mas, Sukajadi Timur, and Tanah Mas Indah, Talang Kelapa District.

"A total of 246 families were affected by flooding due to the high intensity of rain. The rain caused the water discharge not to be accommodated," he said in Banyuasin, Thursday, February 20.

He said his party had visited the flood site and lowered two fiber boats for the mobility of the affected communities.

"The current condition is that the water level is in the range of 20 cm to 1 meter and is starting to recede gradually," he said.

BPBD Banyuasin appealed to residents to increase their vigilance in the middle of the rainy season.

"The impact of extreme weather can still occur in the next few days. We ask residents to maintain the environment and clean drainage channels regularly," said Reza.
