Kapolda Reveals 4 AK 47 Weapons Belonging To The Yalimo Police Which Were Reported By The Papuan KKB Have Been Secured

JAKARTA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin said four organic firearms belonging to the National Police who were taken away by former members who became Aske Mabel's armed criminal group (KKB) were successfully secured again.

The organic senpi is known to have been taken away from the Yalimo Resort Police Headquarters, Papua Mountains.

"Four AK 47 firearms belonging to the Yalimo Police and their ammunition have been secured from two KKB members who were arrested," said the Kapolda in Jayapura, Papua, Wednesday, February 19, which was confiscated by Antara.

The KKB members who were arrested on Wednesday, February 19 morning (not Tuesday, February 18, as previously reported) were Aske Mabel along with 71 rounds of ammunition.

Previously, KKB member Nikson Matuan alias Okoni Sieb was arrested on February 2, 2025 along with 46 rounds of ammunition.

Aske Mabel, who was fired from a member of the National Police since December 27, 2024, escaped from the Yalimo Police Headquarters on June 4, 2024, carrying four AK 47 firearms and ammunition.

Accompanied by the Head of Operations of the Cartenz Peace Task Force Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Kapolda said that Aske Mabel's arrest was carried out by a joint team from the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Yalimo Police and Brimob after investigating public reports about the whereabouts of Aske Mabel in Abenaho.

"When he was arrested, Mabel had fought back so that according to the procedure he was immediately paralyzed," said the Kapolda, adding that Aske Mabel has now been handled by the medical team of Bhayangkara Hospital, Jayapura.

With the arrest of Askel Mabel and Nikson Matuan along with four firearms and ammunition, the Kapolda continued, all organic firearms belonging to the National Police who were previously taken away by KKB members have returned.

"Investigators from the General Criminal Directorate of the Papua Police will conduct an examination of Aske Mabel," said Patrige Renwarin.
