JAKARTA - The National Police said that the KPK investigator with the initials SR who blackmailed the Mayor of Tanjungbalai, Syahrial, was arrested for Rp1.5 billion. These investigators were brought to the Police Propam Division.

"The National Police Propam together with the KPK secured the KPK investigator, AKP SR, on Tuesday, April 20 and has been secured at the National Police Propam Div," said the Head of the Propam Polri Division, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, to reporters, Wednesday, April 21.

Later, said Sambo, the KPK would handle cases or investigations. However, the handling is still coordinated with the Police.

"The KPK is investigating the case, but nevertheless coordinates with the National Police Propam," he continued

Previously reported, the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri emphasized that he would take action against investigators from the police who asked for Rp1.5 billion from the Mayor of Tanjungbalai, Syahrial. This request is called to stop the ongoing investigation.

"The KPK will not tolerate irregularities and will ensure that it will take action against perpetrators of corruption indiscriminately," Firli said in a written statement, Wednesday, April 21.

Firli said the KPK was investigating the alleged action. Firli also ensures that his institution will apply the principle of zero tolerance in relation to such cases.

The investigation process is carried out by asking for information and collecting other preliminary evidence. He said the results of the investigation would be followed up with a case title immediately at the leadership expose forum.
