JAKARTA - Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed that Poland would not send troops to Ukraine. Tusk conveyed this when departing to attend an emergency summit in Paris to discuss Europe's role in the ceasefire.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was previously the first European leader to say he was ready to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine.

"Poland will support Ukraine as they have done so far on an organizational basis, in accordance with our financial capabilities, in terms of humanitarian and military aid," Tusk told reporters before boarding the plane to Paris.

"We have no plans to send Polish troops to Ukrainian territory. We will provide logistical and political support to countries that may want to provide such assurances in the future, physical guarantees," he stressed.

Tusk warned against questioning the European alliance with the United States, after a fluctuating week that has left many countries worried they will not be able to rely on support from Washington.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump will make a Ukrainian peace agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin that will weaken Kyiv and Europe's wider security.

"Polish can and must play a positive role," he said.

I mean (ensuring) the most close cooperation between Poland, Ukraine, the European Union, the United States, European countries such as Great Britain and Norway. There is no place for 'one/or' the European Union or the United States," added Tusk.

He said it was not the time to think about building alternatives to NATO's transatlantic military alliance and said countries offering security guarantees to Ukraine should believe they can fulfill them.

"We have to show that we are capable of making a much larger investment in our defense capabilities," he said.
