Pekanbaru Police Arrest Police For Embezzlement Of Rental Cars

The Pekanbaru City Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested a Riau Regional Police personnel with the initials DTH (37) related to the alleged embezzlement of a car.

"We have secured the perpetrator after investigating the alleged embezzlement of vehicles. The car, which was rented for one month, was not returned and instead sold to other people," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pekanbaru Police, Kompol Bery Juana Putra, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 13.

The police arrested the police on Sunday (27/1). Initially, the victim, Said Mukhsin Syam (40) rented out a car to the suspect on February 29, 2024, but until the deadline for one month the vehicle was not returned.

When checking through the GPS, the car was detected on Jalan Bukit Rahayu, Tenayan Raya District, in a motionless condition.

After checking, it turned out that the suspect had sold the car to someone.

As a result of this incident, the victim suffered a loss of around Rp. 450 million and reported the case to the Tenayan Raya Sector Police. Then based on the victim's report, the Tenayan Raya Police Criminal Investigation Unit carried out an investigation.

The Criminal Investigation Team then tracked down the suspect's whereabouts and arrested him without a fight. In addition to evidence in the form of a car, his party also secured related documents.

"The perpetrator admitted his actions and said that the money from the car sale was used for daily needs," said Kompol Bery.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 372 and/or Article 378 of the Criminal Code on embezzlement and fraud, with a penalty of up to four years in prison.
