Indonesia's Corruption Perception Index 2024 Rises Slightly, The KPK Says This

"We are all grateful that there will be improvements from the previous year this year in 2023 to 2024," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at the launch of the 2024 IPK which was broadcast on the Transparency International Indonesia (TII) YouTube channel, quoted on Wednesday, February 12.

Setyo assessed that the score was a picture of eradicating corruption consisting of prevention and prosecution. The indicators are also determined from various sectors, not only about law enforcement.

He is also optimistic about the current government's commitment to eradicating corruption. Even since Prabowo Subianto was sworn in as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia and delivered his speech.

"I believe that with the statement of the President of Indonesia starting at the time of his spill in Senayan, then at the internal meeting he also conveyed his firmness on the issue of eradicating corruption," said the former Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

Similarly, KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika also appreciated the increase in Indonesia's 2024 GPA. "This could be a good momentum," he said on a separate occasion.

He ensured that the KPK leadership in the future would be committed to other stakeholders to increase the already good score. The current government program will also continue to be monitored.

"In the end, we hope to increase the corruption perception index even bigger in the future," continued the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of Transparency International Indonesia (TII) Danang Widyoko actually assessed that President Prabowo Subianto did not understand the issue of eradicating corruption. This is because his statements often focus on state financial leakage.

In fact, corruption is not only a matter of budget but also a conflict of interest. "President Prabowo did not understand or what was conveyed was incomplete or the goodscalai was biased. So what is understood is that corruption was leaked state money and then the eradication of corruption was carried out by withdrawing the leaked money so that it could then be used for government programs," explained Wawan at the IPK launch event.

Adapun skor IPK atau corruption perception index (CPI) Indonesia mengalami peningkatan dengan skor 37. Angka ini membuat Indonesia bertengger di posisi ke-99 dari 180 negara.

IPK ini mengukur risiko korupsi di sektor publik dan politik di suatu negara. Angka dirilis dengan skala 0 atau menandakan korupsi tertinggi sampai 100 yang berarti korupsi terendah.

This score, called TII, puts Indonesia in the same position as Argentina, Ethiopia, Morocco, and Lesotho. As for the Asean state, there are several countries that have experienced improvements, such as Indonesia, namely Singapore, Timor Leste and Laos.
