KP2MI Has Returned HE, 1 Of 7 Illegal CPMIs To Be Sent To The Middle East

HST - The Rapid Response Team (TRC) of the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) has repatriated a candidate for illegal Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) from Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) Regency, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) with the initials HE (25).

HE is one of seven CPMIs that want to be illegally dispatched to Oman and Qatar. They were detained by officers at illegal shelters in Bekasi, West Java.

"HE is a resident of Banua Rantau, Batang Alai Selatan District, HST Regency, he is one of seven illegal CPMIs whose departures were thwarted to Qatar and Oman on February 3, 2025," said Head of the South Kalimantan Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI) Ady Eldiwan when confirmed in Barabai, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Antara, Monday, January 10.

BP3MI South Kalimantan facilitated the return of the victim without any problems until he arrived at his residence in HST Regency and was greeted by the local government.

"A broker with the initials S accommodates the victims for one week to one month and an illegal agency with the initials S who controls the passports of PMI candidates, the authorities are still investigating," he said.

Ady explained, initially the victim HE knew the opportunity to work as a home assistant in Saudi Arabia from a mother-in-law friend through broker Y with the initials Y in Jakarta with a salary promise of Rp. 5 million-Rp. 6 million per month, and a fee of Rp. 3 million-Rp. 10 million.

Even the broker, he said, gave only Rp. 1 million to the family, facilitated plane tickets to travel to shelters to the victims, and after being found during the raid, the victim was finally sent back to his place of origin.

Meanwhile, Head of Development, Training and Work Placement of the HST Regency Manpower Office Zainal Abidin said his party together with the PMI handling team consisted of elements of the TNI/Polri, the PPPA Service and KB had met with the victims.

Zainal ensured that HE never reported his departure to work as a migrant to the HST Regency Manpower Office. The victim admitted that he departed illegally, directly registering through the distributor from Jakarta, known through social media Facebook.

Zainal emphasized that if prospective workers report, the HST Regency Manpower Office will help track legality against channeling companies including tracking the truth regarding labor service providers, such as in Saudi Arabia through information on placement in applications.

If the legal distribution company, the HST Regency Manpower Office provides recommendations after completing the requirements, such as a husband/parent permit letter, a certificate from the Village Head, BPJS Card, Ijazah, and a notification letter that can receive a prospective worker.

Banua Village Head Rantau Syaifullah said he never knew about the departure of the mother of two when he left his hometown to become a PMI candidate.

He admitted that he was surprised after receiving news that BP3MI South Kalimantan was about to return it some time ago.

"After the meeting at the HST Manpower Office for the handover of the victim's repatriation, I found out that the victim left only on the condition that her husband's ID card and permit. She was desperate because of economic problems," said Syaifullah.
