Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Denies Lack Of Socialization Regarding Prohibition Of LPG Selling

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung denied that his party did not conduct socialization related to the prohibition policy for retailers to sell 3 kg LPG.

Yuliot said that the policy, which was previously implemented on February 1, had gone through a discussion process since March 2024 to see the availability of supplies and supplies of melon gas in the community.

"So from the end of last year, it actually happened over quotes. So to not happen again over quotes like last year, yes, we evaluated it from the beginning of the year," said Yuliot, quoted on Saturday, February 8.

Yuliot admitted that his party had conducted socialization to the LPG gas base. However, he admitted that the socialization had not yet touched all bases. He also called himself active in the field and met the owner of the LPG base.

"And it turns out that the retailer is part of the base. So when they wanted distribution, they didn't dare either. It was like that," said Yuliot.

Just so you know, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia announced that all 3 kg LPG retailers in Indonesia, totaling 375,000, will be raised to sub-base status. This step aims to ensure the distribution of subsidized LPG is right on target and prices remain affordable.

Bahlil emphasized that by changing the status of retailers to sub bases, the distribution of LPG 3 Kg will be more controlled. This is done to prevent price spikes and potential misuse of subsidies.

"In translating the President's policy, we raise the status of retailers to sub bases. This aims to control the distribution with information and technology systems, so that prices remain affordable and there is no abuse," he said.
