JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, Paulus Tannos, would be detained upon arrival in Indonesia.

The suspect in the corruption case of the electronic identity card procurement project (e-KTP) is confirmed to undergo a legal process to account for his actions.

This statement was made by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika when asked about the steps taken by his institution if Paul was successfully repatriated after being arrested by Singapore's security authorities.

Tessa gave an example of the process that occurred when the anti-corruption commission succeeded in bringing home the former Democratic Party's former General Treasurer, Muhammad Nasarudin who was caught in Colombia, South America in 2011.

"We immediately carried out the detention process," Tessa told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 30.

After the detention process is carried out, Paulus will certainly be held accountable for his actions before the panel of judges. "One of the things that Singapore wants is the guarantee that the person concerned must be tried or charged," he said.

Tessa explained that her party had also coordinated with the Attorney General's Office (AGO) to ensure this. "So the point is that once the person concerned can be brought back to Indonesia, the transfer process to the trial can be carried out immediately," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Previously reported, Paulus Tannos, who is the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, was finally arrested by Singaporean authorities after being on the wanted list since 2021. He was named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2019.

At that time he was named by the KPK as a suspect along with three other people, namely Isnu Edhi Wijaya as the former President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI); 2014-2019 DPR RI member Miryam S Haryani; and former Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of e-KTP Husni Fahmi.

The extradition of Paulus is now being pursued since he was arrested. Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Supratman Andi Agtas, targets this process to be completed in the near future or before the maximum limit of March 3, 2025.

"We have 45 days to complete the extradition documents. However, I make sure we will not wait until March 3. This process will be completed soon," Supratman said on Wednesday, January 29.

Supratman emphasized that extradition cannot be carried out instantly because there are legal procedures that must be met by all relevant parties. However, he made sure there were no obstacles in the ongoing process.

"This concerns strategies and various other legal aspects. For the development of the case, please ask the KPK directly. As for the extradition, it will be handled by the International Relations Division (Hubinter) of the National Police Headquarters," he explained.
