Polda Metro Conducts In-depth Investigation Of Allegations Of Extortion By The Former Head Of Criminal Investigation Unit Of The South Jakarta Police

Polda Metro Jaya is investigating a extortion case allegedly committed by the former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Bintoro against two suspects in the murder case, Arif Nugroho (AN) alias Bastian and Muhammad Bayu Hartanto.

"Following up on this information, Polda Metro Jaya is currently investigating Bidpropam," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Police Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi quoting Antara.

Ade Ary explained that Polda Metro Jaya is committed to processing according to procedural, proportional and professional regulations.

"Polda Metro Jaya is committed to improving services and protection to the community," he said.

Former Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasatreskrim) of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Bintoro, denied that he had extorted Rp20 billion from the suspect in the murder case who is also the son of the boss of the Prodia laboratory clinic network, Arif Nugroho (AN) alias Bastian and Muhammad Bayu Hartanto.

"The suspect on behalf of AN did not accept and made false news about me extorting the person concerned. In fact, all of this is slander," Bintoro told reporters in Jakarta, Sunday (26/1).

Bintoro said that this incident began with the report of AN alias Bastian who had committed a criminal act of sexual crime and child protection which caused the victim to die at a hotel in South Jakarta (Jaksel).

The case report is registered with the number LP/B/1181/IV/2024/SPKT/Polres Metro South Jakarta and LP/B/1179/IV/2024/SPKT/Polres Metro South Jakarta in April 2024.

During the crime scene (TKP), illegal drugs and firearms were found.

"In short, in this case, the South Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim, who at that time served as Kasatreskrim, conducted an investigation and investigation into the criminal act that occurred," he said.

Until now, Bintoro conveyed that the case process had been declared P21 and transferred to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) with two suspects, namely Arif Nugroho and Bayu Hartanto and their evidence for trial.
