SUMEDANG - The Sumedang Police arrested a young man who broke into 11 shops in a number of Sumedang Regency, West Java. The perpetrator was targeting cash stored in stores.

Sumedang Police Chief AKBP Eko Prasetyo Robbyanto said the total loot of the perpetrators from 11 shops amounted to IDR135 million.

"The perpetrator after committing theft at 11 crime scenes is estimated to have earned Rp135 million from the proceeds of his crime," Chief of Police Eko during a press conference in Sumedang was quoted as saying by Antara, Monday, April 19.

The perpetrator named Dadah Junaedi (22) is a resident of South Sumedang District. To the police, Dadah admitted that he was alone. One of the shops that was targeted was Toko Besi Jaya on Jalan Mayor Abdurahman, Kelurahan Kotakaler, Kecamatan Sumedang Utara.

The suspect in the action was by climbing the roof tiles, then dismantling the roof tiles and the shop ceiling until finally he could enter the shop to retrieve various valuables including money.

"Going down to the store room then prying out the table drawer using a screwdriver and taking the money in the drawer," he said.

The Police Chief said that his staff had succeeded in uncovering the crime of theft of the shop based on processing the crime scene and the hidden camera recordings belonging to the hardware store.

Subsequently, the police managed to detect the whereabouts of the perpetrator, then arrested him at his house in Cilipung Hamlet, South Sumedang District, then he was taken to the Sumedang Police Headquarters for further legal examination.

"The perpetrator admitted that he had committed 11 thefts in the Sumedang City area, and currently only 4 have reported to the police," said the Police Chief.

In addition to securing the perpetrators, the police also secured evidence in the form of a Honda Jazz four-wheeled vehicle, a black Honda CBR two-wheeled vehicle without a number plate, then tools, clothing and the remaining money for the crime of IDR 1.3 million.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was imprisoned at the Sumedang Police and charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 7 years. "Currently the perpetrator is still being investigated by the police for further development," he said.
