Allegedly Blasphemous, PPP Requests For Josep Paul Zhang's Passport To Be Revoked

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) from the PPP faction Arsul Sani, urged the National Police to immediately coordinate with the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia to revoke the passport of the alleged perpetrator of blasphemy who went viral through social media, Josep Paul Zhang.

The reason is, the person whose real name is Sindy Paul Soerjomoeljono is believed to have been abroad since 2018.

The member of Commission III of the DPR is of the opinion that the passport revocation step can be carried out as regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Permenkumham) No. 8 of 2014.

"Based on Article 25 of the Minister of Law and Human Rights, if the passport holder has been declared a suspect in a criminal act which is punishable by law for at least 5 (five) years or his status is on Interpol red notice, his passport can be withdrawn by the authorized immigration official," Arsul explained, Monday. , April 19.

In this case, he continued, Joseph Paul Zang could be under suspicion on the basis of Article 28 of the ITE Law and Article 156A of the Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of more than 5 years.

"He can also have his red notice processed at Interpol if he does not fulfill the Police summons. Therefore, based on Article 25, passport withdrawals can be carried out," said Arsul.

Arsul asked the Directorate General of Immigration to use the authority to revoke Joseph Paul Zang's passport based on Article 35 letter h which stipulates that the revocation of the passport in the event that the withdrawal attempt cannot be made.

"If it turns out that the passport withdrawal cannot be carried out because the person concerned is not known for his whereabouts and his passport cannot be physically withdrawn," said the deputy chairman of the PPP.

It is known that Bareskrim Polri investigators have started to study Jozeph Paul Zhang's video claiming to be the 26th prophet.
