President Prabowo Calls The Inauguration Of The 3.2 GW Electricity Project Jokowi's Work Section

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto gave a speech at the inauguration of 37 electricity infrastructure projects simultaneously centered at the Jatigede hydropower plant, Sumedang Regency, ANTARA/Ahmad Muzdaffar Fauzan

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the inauguration of 37 electricity infrastructure projects in 18 provinces with a total capacity of 3.2 gigawatts (GW) was part of the work of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

This was conveyed by Prabowo during the inauguration of the national electricity strategic project centered at the Jatigede hydropower plant, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province, Monday, January 20.

"Of course, this is the work of the entire Indonesian nation, the result of the hard work of the nation's sons from all agencies, institutions, all institutions as well as the role of the government led by the 7th President, Pak Joko Widodo," Prabowo said as quoted by Antara.

Prabowo said that the electricity project he inaugurated was part of the hard work of the Joko Widodo administration for 10 years, in line with the government's goal, namely self-sufficiency in energy.

The Head of State assessed that the inauguration was a great honor for him.

The President said he was proud because the electricity projects spread across 18 provinces and at these 37 points may be the inauguration of the largest energy project in the world.

Apart from feeling lucky, President Prabowo explained that the inauguration also coincided with the third month of being inaugurated as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia since October 20, 2024.

"In the third month, today I was sworn in three months ago, October 20, now January 20, in this third month I have the honor of inaugurating a cluster of projects of this size. Which produces more energy of 3.2 gigawatts, then networks, substations. I think this is quite proud," said the President.

Therefore, the President also appreciated and gave awards to all elements involved and worked hard.

The President is also optimistic that he can provide electricity networks in hamlets that have not used electricity within five years of his administration.

The President hopes that Indonesia will no longer need to import fuel oil, because it is consistent in transforming fossil energy into renewable energy.

The Jatigede hydropower plant with a capacity of 2x55 megawatts (MW) that utilizes water from the Jatigede Reservoir has been initiated since the era of President Soekarno in 1963 and the first stone was laid in the era of President Jokowi in 2015.

A total of 37 electricity projects in the form of power plants, transmissions, and electricity substations in eighteen provinces inaugurated by the President are in Aceh, North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, South Sumatra, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java and East Java.

Then, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and IKN.
