Clashes Of Mass Organizations In Bandung: Police Name 5 Suspects Of GRIB Attacks

BANDUNG Police have named five members of the GRIB Jaya community organization (ormas) as suspects in the attack on the Pancasila Youth Office (PP) on Jalan BKR, Bandung City, West Java.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast, revealed that the five suspects were suspected of being directly involved in the incident, which occurred on Wednesday (15/1) afternoon.

"The Bandung Police have arrested five people who are now named suspects, namely FJ, ZM, OP, GS, and FAS," Jules said at a press conference at the Bandung Police Headquarters, Thursday night.

He explained that the determination of the suspect was carried out after the examination of a number of witnesses, the collection of evidence, and the analysis of CCTV footage. Each suspect is known to have a different role when carrying out the attack.

"The police have examined several witnesses, including victims from the Pancasila Youth Organization. In addition, we secured evidence in the form of CCTV footage, a bamboo stick, a lump of cement, an iron rod, two machete sarongs, a wooden branch, and a four-wheeled vehicle," said Jules.

For their actions, the suspects were subject to Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning violence committed jointly against people or goods, with a maximum prison sentence of five to seven years.

In the incident, several members of GRIB Jaya vandalized offices and vehicles, and abused a number of members of Pemuda Pancasila. As a result, four people were injured as a result of being slashed by sharp weapons.

"The damage that occurred included broken office glass, two cars with broken glass, several motorbikes damaged, and four PP members injured by sharp weapons," he explained.
