Remind The Essence Of Development, Jokowi: Do Not Let Outcast Communities In Their Village

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo reminded that development planning is not only designing building construction but also building a place to live for the community.

Thus, the condition of the surrounding residents must be considered so that they are not isolated in their own village. This was conveyed by Jokowi when he opened the Indonesian Planning Experts Association Anniversary event which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube, Saturday, April 17.

"Planning is not just building building. Planning is not just designing a building. Planning is a build environment, planning is building a place to live that can affect public health, social interactions, cultural roots, economic efficiency and comfort of life which greatly affect the happiness and creativity of its citizens,"

"Do not let planning actually alienate people in their own villages," he added.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta also reminded him not to let development planning trigger traffic jams, making living costs more expensive and unhealthy.

Not only that, he also asked that development planning should not only look at technological developments without considering the basic needs of society.

Jokowi said that in the midst of a changing world and increasing urbanization, of course, development planning is increasingly complex.

Thus, he asked for various developments in knowledge and technology to be followed. "At the same time, the social, cultural and economic conditions of the community must also be taken into account in order to create a better community life," Jokowi concluded.
