West Sulawesi Regional Police Name 5 Police Suspects Of Student Persecution

MAMUJU - The West Sulawesi Regional Police (Sulbar) named five police personnel as suspects in the case of mistreatment of students during a demonstration in front of the Mamuju Police Headquarters on Wednesday (2/1) night.

"The five people who have been named as suspects are all members of the police," said Head of Public Relations of the West Sulawesi Police, Kombes Slamet Wahyudi, to reporters in Mamuju as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 13.

The five police personnel named as suspects have the initials AF (22), JRS (24), DAP (25), MR (26), and H (21).

The determination of the suspect in the alleged abuse case against a student with the initials MD was based on evidence collected by investigators, including surveillance camera footage (CCTV) from the scene, victim's clothes, and post-mortem results.

"The determination of the suspect is also based on the results of the examination of 12 witnesses," said Slamet.

The Notification of Investigation Results (SP2HP) has been submitted to the victim and investigators from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the West Sulawesi Police have also sent a Notice of Investigation Commencement (SPDP) file to the West Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office.

"In addition, the West Sulawesi Regional Police have also completed the administration of the investigation and case files," he added.

Slamet emphasized that the West Sulawesi Regional Police are committed to handling the case in a transparent and professional manner.

He hopes that the case can be resolved fairly and in accordance with applicable legal rules because fair and transparent law enforcement is an important pillar in maintaining stability and security in society.

"This case serves as a reminder for all parties, especially law enforcement officials, to always act in accordance with the law and uphold the values of justice," said Slamet.

The case of mistreatment of MD began when students who were members of the Mamuju Branch of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) held a solidarity action in front of the Mamuju Police Headquarters on Wednesday (2/1) night.

The action was carried out after a commotion occurred the day before at the Central Mamuju HDI Women's Dormitory.

This case was then reported by MD to Mamuju Police Headquarters with police report Number: LP/B/03/I/2025/SPKT/Resta Mamuju/Sulbar which was reported on January 2, 2025.
