JAKARTA - The National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) asked Facebook to explain the hacking of 533 million Facebook user data that was discovered by cyber intelligence agencies in Israel.

"BPKN will immediately respond and ask for an explanation from Facebook, especially regarding the leaking of data from 130 thousand Facebook users who are Indonesian citizens," said BPKN Chairman Rizal E Halim in a statement reported by Antara, Friday, April 16.

He said that the theft of personal data in the digital world was the umpteenth time so that it needed to be taken seriously

According to him, the digital security system on each platform has always been a target for cyber hackers. On the other hand, every country is obliged to provide rules of the game and provide protection to every citizen.

This means, he continued, improvements related to the protection of personal data that have been misused so far are urgent to be addressed, including the ratification of the Personal Data Protection Bill (RUU PDP).

"Don't wait for the victims to continue to fall, and as if the state is unable to manage digital practices that have the potential to endanger the Indonesian people," he said.
