Police Name Car Renter as Suspect in Shooting at Rest Area KM 45 of Tangerang-Merak Toll Road

TANGERANG – A car renter named Ajat Supriatna has been officially named a suspect by the police for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident at Rest Area KM 45 of the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road.

The shooting resulted in one victim, Ilyas Abdurahman (48), dying, while his colleague, Ramli (59), suffered a gunshot wound to the back and is still undergoing intensive care.

"Ajat Supriatna has been named a suspect," said Head of Public Relations of the Tangerang Police, Ipda Purbawa, Sunday, January 5.

Based on information, Ajat rented a car from Ilyas from December 31, 2024 to January 2, 2025. However, until the specified time, the car had not been returned. After checking via GPS, the car was found to be in the Pandeglang Regency area.

The rental owner, Ilyas, and his team gave chase to find the car until finally the shooting incident occurred at Rest Area KM 45, Tangerang-Merak Toll Road. "The rental owner gave chase to the location until finally the shooting incident occurred," explained Ipda Purbawa.

Previously, the police had arrested four people suspected of being involved in this case. Of the four people, two of them were handed over to the Navy Military Police Center (Puspomal) because they were suspected of being TNI members.

"The other two are suspected of being TNI members, we are coordinating with Puspom which will conduct the investigation process," added Purbawa.

Currently, the police are continuing to investigate the shooting case to uncover the motive behind this incident. Ajat Supriatna is now facing legal proceedings, while the investigation into the involvement of other parties, including TNI members, is ongoing under the coordination of Puspomal.
