MEDAN - The Governor of North Sumatra (Gubsu) Edy Rahmayadi was shouted at by students while attending the plenary session at the North Sumatra DPRD.

When the Governor of Edy made a speech, a student named Irwandi Sembiring suddenly shouted on the 2nd floor of the plenary room. He also unfurled a banner.

"Long live students, lower fuel prices," the student shouted, Thursday, April 15.

The Governor of Edy was silent. Satpol PP officers immediately pulled students out of the plenary building. The student repeatedly called Edy Rahmayadi dignified.

"Governor Edy is not dignified, cut fuel. Today is still a pandemic and in the month of Ramadan why do fuel prices rise? We ask Edy to immediately reduce fuel prices," he said.

Regarding the student's single action, the head of the PDI-P faction at the DPRD of North Sumatra, Mangapul Purba, said that the aspirations of students were a fact of what happened in North Sumatra.

"Since the Governor Regulation No. 1/2021 regarding the change in PBBKB rates, the PDI-P faction has urged the governor to revoke the Pergubsu because it has an impact on fuel price increases, but brother Edy Rahmayadi is insensitive, so he does not want to listen to the aspirations of the people," he said. In the midst of economic difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic and entering Ramadan, Edy Rahmayadi's policy as Governor by raising PBBKB which consequently increases fuel prices is called a policy that is not dignified.

Mengapul suggested that the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, be more sensitive and care for the people of North Sumatra by immediately revoking Pergubsu No.1 / 2021.

"The PDI-P faction fully supports every student and people's movement that rejects the increase in fuel prices due to the governor's undignified policy," he said.
