JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto explained the role of the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) in the bribery case that ensnared Harun Masiku.
In the 2019 Legislative Election, Harun Masiku became a candidate for the DPR for the 1st electoral district of South Sumatra (Sumsel). Apparently, Harun only got 5,878 votes and did not pass the legislative election.
Prior to the vote, one of the elected candidates in Harun's electoral district died. Supposedly, the one who replaced him was Riezky Aprilia with 44,402.
However, Hasto tried to get Harun to replace the elected candidate. For this reason, Hasto submitted a judicial review to the Supreme Court.
"However, after a decision was made by the Supreme Court, the KPU did not want to implement the decision. Therefore, Brother HK asked Fatwa to calm down," said Setyo at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Tuesday, December 24.
Hasto also asked Riezky to resign as an elected candidate several times so that he could be replaced by Harun. However, Riezky refused.
"Therefore these efforts have not been successful, so HK is working with Harun Masiku, Saeful Bahri, and DTI to Bribery Wahyu Setiawan and Agustinus Tio F," explained Setyo.
Hasto, called Setyo, arranged and controlled the PDIP legal team who is also his confidant, Donny Tri Istiqomah, to actively take and deliver bribes to be handed over to Wahyu.

Apart from being involved in a bribery case, Setyo revealed that Hasto was also suspected of deliberately obstructing the investigation into the Harun Masiku case, which is currently still at large.
"I deliberately prevent, obstruct, or thwart directly or indirectly the investigation of corruption," explained Setyo.
As for Hasto's role in efforts to hinder the investigation, namely when the KPK carried out a hand arrest operation (OTT) on January 8, 2020, which arrested Wahyu, Hasto ordered his office employee to call Harun Masiku.
Hasto ordered Harun to submerge his cellphone into the water and immediately run away so as not to be caught by the KPK.
Then, on June 6, 2024 before Hasto was examined as a witness by the KPK, Hasto ordered his staff, Kusnadi, to drown cellphones so that they were not found by the KPK.
"Brother HK (Hasto) gathered several witnesses related to the Harun Masiku case and directed the witness not to provide true information," said Setyo.
