JAKARTA - South Korea's main opposition party plans to immediately take steps to impeach the acting president of Han Duck-soo.

Democratic Party (DP) leader Park Chan-dae announced this after Han postponed approving a law to file a special advisory for demands regarding President Yoon Suk Yeol's efforts to implement a military emergency.

Prime Minister Han took over the position of Yoon who was impeached on December 14. Now Yoon is waiting for the decision of the South Korean Constitutional Court regarding the impeachment of parliament.

President Han's official confirmed at today's cabinet meeting that he would not approve a special prosecution law, Park said.

"There's no way to interpret it other than that he's delaying time," he added.

The time for submitting a bill to impeach Han can be decided as soon as Tuesday afternoon.

With the majority in parliament, this month's DP passed a bill appointing a special adviser to file charges of insurgency against Yoon and to investigate his wife for luxury bag scandals and other charges.

Han did not include the bill on the cabinet agenda on Tuesday, but called on the ruling party and opposition to discuss the bill and other issues.

Yoon's People's Power Party (People Power Party) accused the Democratic Party of threatening Han for not meeting their demands, at a time when South Korea's main ally, the United States, had just restarted planned communications with Asia's fourth-largest economy under Han's leadership.
