JAKARTA - Ice pellets fell from the sky during heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit parts of Bekasi City, West Java, Wednesday, April 14, afternoon.

Hail reportedly took place in Jatiwarna Village, Pondok Melati District around 3:30 p.m. "For 23 years living in Bekasi, only this time Bekasi hail", said Jatiwarna resident, Neddy (23), in Bekasi, reported Antara, Wednesday, April 14.

In a video post that Neddy uploaded via @neddymp27's Instagram account, a grain of ice the size of corn kernels fell on the yard of a house that was fitted with a paving block.

The sound of ice clashing on the roof of Neddy's house is also clearly heard. "Oops, this is real ice cubes", he said.

Meanwhile, another resident, Mami, said she had experienced hail in 2005 at Pondok Gede. "She was in elementary school. It just looks again", she said.

Separately, a member of the Central Control and Operations of the Bekasi Regional Disaster Management Agency, Karsono confirmed the situation.

"Yes, the report came to us around this afternoon when heavy rains accompanied by strong winds occurred in the city of Bekasi. We're checking the location", he said.

In addition to the hail, several road points and settlements in Jatiwarna were also reported flooded.
