President Prabowo Tells The Story Of Building A Mosque In Hambalang With A Christian Architect

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto talked about his steps to build a mosque in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, which was built by the architect of a Christian.

The story was conveyed by President Prabowo in his remarks at the inauguration of the Istiqlal Mosque Gathering Tunnel, the Cathedral Church, in Jakarta, Thursday, December 12.

"This reminds us that not only the Istiqlal Mosque standing next to the Cathedral Church, but the one who designed the Istiqlal, the first President, was appointed not a Muslim, the architect was a Christian. This is the greatness of the Indonesian nation," Prabowo said starting the story.

Prabowo then said he was following in the footsteps of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno, by building a mosque in Hambalang, with the architect of a Christian.

"Smallly, I also built a mosque in Hambalang. Yes, I joined Bung Karno, who designed my mosque design there was a Catholic," said Prabowo.

The President also emphasized that Indonesia has a tradition that differences are not a barrier to unity.

"This is our tradition that we are of different religions, different customs, but we are one in the big family of the Indonesian nation," said the Head of State.

The President called on all parties to maintain harmony. Prabowo said only with Indonesia's peace would be prosperous, just and prosperous.
