JAKARTA - A grocery store owner in Haji Enjong Street, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta suffered lacerations to several parts of her body after fighting off robbers who tried to steal her money.

"When it happened, I looked after my daughter, Evi. She said it was one person. When he came he originally bought a half-pack of cigarettes. Cigarettes are paid the same as the perpetrator", said the owner of a grocery store, Sukini in Jakarta reported Antara, Tuesday, April 12.

The incident took place on Monday, April 12, at around 8:30 p.m. Based on the information of his son the perpetrator came on an automatic type motorbike.

After buying cigarettes, the perpetrator then had time to sit in the yard around the stall while watching the situation. Shortly afterward the perpetrator pointed a machete about a meter long into Evi's neck.

"It was fitting that the incident was quiet. My daughter did not realize when the perpetrator entered, suddenly the perpetrator immediately pointed a gun to her neck", said Sukini.

Sukini said the perpetrator also threatened his son not to scream and ask for help. However, Evi continued to fight the perpetrator by trying to rebel, causing two fingers of her left hand and the back shoulder to be injured by an incision.

"It hurts because my daughter is fighting when she's at gunpoint, so it's not because she's shaken", he said.

Evi's screams then attracted the attention of the surrounding residents. But Sukini said the perpetrator managed to escape with a mobile phone belonging to her daughter.

"After my daughter fought, the perpetrator took my daughter's phone, kept running away", she said.
