JAKARTA Harvey Moeis, husband of artist Sandra Dewi, is scheduled to attend a trial related to the alleged corruption case of tin commodity trading in the mining business permit (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk for the 2015 '2022 period. The trial took place at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor), Monday, December 9, led by the Chief Justice Eko Aryanto.

At this trial, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) is scheduled to read out the charges against the defendant. The schedule has been set at the previous trial, November 28, 2024.

"We schedule the 9th (December) as a demand," said Judge Eko at the time.

Harvey Moeis was charged with being involved in corrupt practices that cost the state up to Rp. 300 trillion. As a representative of PT Refund Bangka Tin (RBT), a purely bull lead-producing company, he is suspected of raising security' funds from a number of smelter companies involved in illegal mining activities in the PT Timah Tbk IUP area.

In the previous trial, Harvey admitted that he had received USD 1.5 million from four smelter companies, namely CV Venus Inti Perkasa, PT Sarijuna Binasentosa, PT Stanindo Inti Perkasa, and PT Tinindo Inter Nusa.

Harvey said most of the funds were corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. "In addition, there were also gifts of 25,000 Singapore dollars three times, although the value was relatively small," he said in a hearing on November 4, 2024.

He also claimed that the funds had been used to purchase medical devices distributed to a number of hospitals, including RSCM and RSPAD, to support the handling of Covid-19.

"I haven't had time to tell the smelter, but the funds are for medical equipment assistance," Harvey said at trial.

Today's trial is an important chapter in determining Harvey Moeis' legal fate in corruption cases involving large funds and a number of large companies.
